Alan is a passionate advocate for a more accessible and fair society, particularly across all forms of transport. Active as a public speaker, consultant and campaigner, he is currently co-chair at disability rights charity Transport for All, and deputy chair at London Travelwatch, the UK capital's passenger body. In 2022 Alan was awarded an MBE for services to transport and disabled people and appointed a Freeman of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. He is committed to promoting understanding of the social model of disability as a driver for change and can often be found sharing his thoughts on social media.
