Chris has been a campaigner for over 30 years and in the 1990s helped coordinate South Coast Against Roadbuilding (SCAR), an alliance opposing the Folkestone to Honiton trunk road. He then worked for the South Downs Campaign, a network of 160 organisations, until 2010 when the National Park was confirmed.
He has chaired various local partnerships and led the successful bid for the first Biosphere designated in the UK for over 40 years. From 2014 - 2019 he was at Campaign for Better Transport supporting local groups fighting roads and bus cuts. In 2019 he set up Transport Action Network.
